Research in the field of Remote Sensing
and Geographic Information Systems
About us
The Center for Remote Sensing (CRS) is is an official collaboration between research groups active in the field of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems at University of Iceland.
Our research focus on various aspects of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems ranging from spectral and spatial classification, image processing, change detection, deep learning, high-performance computing and are applied to various fields including glaciology, volcanology, crustal deformation and ecology.
Purpose and goal of CRS
The goal of CRS to strengthen the interdisciplinary research and education within the field of remote sensing and geographic information systems by facilitating networking, coordinating and maintaining remote sensing infrastructure across institutes.
This will facilitate increased research collaborations between individual groups, graduate students and common grant applications and thereby increase the visibility of the research field of remote sensing and geographic information systems on a national and international level.
